Caragh Lake

Just a 15 minute cycle from Glenbeigh is the majestic Lough Caragh – glacial in origin with two little islands Robert’s Island and Illaunbuddoga. Known for its Salmon Fishing and watersports surrounded by the stunning landscape of the McGillicuddy Reeks, it is well worth a visit.

Take a left when leaving The Glenbeigh Hotel towards Caragh Bridge taking the right over the bridge – being careful as this road can be busy in the summer months. Follow on this road taking the next right turn which will lead you onto quieter roads to the lake.

On route you may like to stop at the little road side market that pops up in the summer months with a beautiful photo opportunity of the valley with Caragh River in the backdrop. Another hidden gem worth stopping at is Kerry Bog Village just 5 minutes past the turn off for Caragh Lake.
